Here in the ONE HUNDRED MORNINGS office, the film has inspired us to pay more mind to the concept of sustainable living, as well as making us realise just how unskilled we currently are to survive in a world without electricity! This new fascination has inspired us to start growing our own plants, and to help others do the same. Felim McDermott, who programmed ONE HUNDRED MORNINGS at The Galway Film Fleadh, was so inspired that he grew his first potato crop after seeing the film. As quoted “Am boiling spuds grown in my own raised beds, a project inspired by the film 100 Mornings. If you see it, you’ll understand”.

If you’re lucky enough to receive one of our exclusive, limited edition ONE HUNDRED MORNINGS seed packets, available on opening night in The IFI, then read below to find out how you too can be on your way to a more sustainable way of life!

Beet Spinach

Sowing Instructions:

Sow seed thinly, 1cm (1/2 in) deep in broad drills, 30cm (12in) apart

Growing Instructions:

Thin Seedlings to 5cm (2in) apart when large enough to handle, thinnings will be suitable for use in salads. Harvest leaves as required, picking only a few from each plant.

Good Luck and Happy Sowing! </P.

Continuing on its international run, ONE HUNDRED MORNINGS has just returned from outings at two of Eastern Europe’s most prestigious Film Festivals, Titantic Film Festival in Budapest and Off Plus Camera Film Festival in Krakow. We were delighted to be part of the special New Irish Cinema Programmes at both festivals, where OHM was screened alongside Perrier’s Bounty and Savage, amongst many others. The screenings had some of the best and most responsive audiences that the film has ever had. A big thanks to all who attended.

The first screening at The Titanic Film Festival in Budapest took place in beautiful Uránia Film Art Deco Theatre. The Irish Ambassador to Hungary was kind enough to host a dinner for Irish film talent in attendence, including our own Conor Horgan, Producer Martina Niland (Snap) and Hungary-based Irish Filmmaker Damien Hannigan.

It was great to be surrounded by lots of Irish representation at Off Plus Camera in Krakow, with Grainne Humphries from JDIFF and Directors Terry McMahon, David Keating and Tom Hall all in attendance. Conor was also lucky enough to meet the beautiful Rose McGowan, who he says is hilariously funny! We are all very jealous in the office that both Director and Producer, Conor and Katie, were given a VIP tour of The Salt Mines, and had lunch 130 metres below the surface.

ONE HUNDRED MORNINGS also screened at The Sci-Fi London Festival and Films from the Isles in Luxemberg this month, the former describing the film as ‘constantly engrossing – a brilliant departure from the tried-and-tested post-apocalyptic norm’. The ONE HUNDRED MORNINGS Mornings team are delighted that the film has been received so enthusiastically around the globe.

Having such a great response to Irish Film internationally is very encouraging that our film industry is force to be reckoned with, despite the many challenges it faces in this difficult time for the Arts. Well done to all!
